Confidence Code - code of practice for online domestic price comparison services

Decision

In 2013 we took over responsibility for the Confidence Code, a voluntary code of practice for domestic energy price comparison services, from Consumer Focus. The Code insists that its members follow key principles, providing reassurance to consumers about the independence, transparency, accuracy, and reliability of the service.

In August 2014 we consulted on changes aimed to strengthen the protections offered to consumers by using accredited sites. In January 2015, we published our final policy decisions and allowed stakeholders to comment on our proposed drafting of the new Confidence Code document.

We have since further reviewed the Confidence Code as part of our August 2016 review, and further revised the Code, the latest version of the Code can be found on our Revised Ofgem Confidence Code 2017 page
