About the scheme
The Northern Ireland Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (NI NDRHI) was designed to increase the uptake of renewable heat technologies and reduce carbon emissions. The scheme closed to new applicants on 29 February 2016.
The Department for the Economy is responsible for the policy and tariffs for the Northern Ireland Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive.
The Non-Domestic RHI Register
Existing participants may login to the Ofgem Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Register to:
- manage their account
- amend accredited installations
- submit quarterly periodic data
- submit meter readings
- let us know of changes to their installation
If needed, you can also reset your password via the RHI Register.
We recommend this guide for submitting changes to your installation and updating your record. For example, for support on what a good meter photo looks like.
Ofgem's role is changing
Ofgem administers this scheme on behalf of the Department for the Economy however, our role is changing.
We are transferring the administration of the Northern Ireland Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme to the Department for the Economy by 30 April 2026.
Following constructive engagement with the Department, we issued our formal notice outlining this decision and the timeline.
We will continue to administer the scheme in the interim and participants should interact with Ofgem in the usual way. Participants will be kept informed by email and updates to this page.
Preparing for the change
Between now and the date of transfer to DfE you will need to:
- continue to submit your meter readings on time
- check your records are up to date
- notify us of any changes to your installation or circumstances within 28 days of their occurrence
Late notices
If your data is submitted more than 28 days after the scheduled meter reading date, please send a time-stamped photo of the meter to rhi.periodicdata@ofgem.gov.uk. These actions will help us resolve any outstanding issues as quickly as possible.
We will only begin to process payment once we have received the necessary data.
Failure to submit meter readings within one month after the conclusion of the relevant quarterly period end may result in a sanction.

Payments
Payments will continue as normal. Keep your records up to date and submit your meter readings on time to ensure a smooth handover.
