Following its Energy Market Investigation, the Competition and Markets Authority recommended the government revise the midata programme to ensure domestic customers can access their data electronically to conduct an accurate cross-market comparison. Today, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has published the government's response on the implementation of midata in the domestic energy sector.
Ofgem will be leading a new cross government integrated team to take forward the recommendations from the government response. This will build upon the engagement, development and policy activities undertaken so far in this work.
This open letter, and brief guide, clarifies the approach for the project, next steps and our expectations of the energy market in supporting this vital work.
