NDRHI Closure

The Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (NDRHI) in Great Britain closed to new applicants at midnight on 31 March 2021. The Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) consulted on changes and published decisions in their government response documents which are available on the BEIS website.

We published closure guidance on 31 March 2021 and have updated existing guidance documents on 31 March 2022 to reflect amendments to RHI regulations agreed in Parliament on 21 February 2022. In November 2021 BEIS confirmed a 12-month extension to the commissioning deadline, from 31 March 2022 to 31 March 2023 for those with eligible tariff guarantees.   


There are some circumstances where an application for accreditation or registration can be made post scheme closure. These are:

Application Queue Update

We received an exceptionally high volume of applications in the weeks and months approaching the closure of the NDRHI scheme. We will be processing all applications by date, in the order in which they were received.

To allow us to continue to progress applications effectively and efficiently, we have emailed all applicants to confirm receipt of properly made applications and steps you can take now to make your review as quick as possible. To assist applicants, we will publish a regular update highlighting the receipt dates of the applications we’re currently reviewing. If you have already been contacted by our team about your NDRHI application, please ensure you have read the email correspondence carefully and followed any necessary action.

We have started to assess a selection of applications that were submitted on or after 1 September 2021.
