Scottish Island Links

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHE-T) is developing three transmission projects which, if completed, would connect Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles respectively to the transmission network on mainland Scotland.

SHE-T submitted the Final Needs Cases for each of these projects during 2018. We expect to consult on the Orkney project in December 2018, and on the Shetland and Western Isles projects in early 2019. These consultations will outline our views on the need for each of the projects, and will also consider the most appropriate delivery model for each project.

All updates, consultations or decisions that we publish in relation the Orkney, Shetland and Western Isles transmission projects will be published here.
