About The Programme
The Ofgem Graduate Development Programme is designed to provide you with the opportunity to gain a breadth of knowledge about our industry and organisation. You will get to work in many of our major divisions and enjoy access to some of the most senior and experienced professionals in the regulatory field.
What we look for
You must have at least a 2:2 (obtained or expected) in a numerical, analytical, energy or business-related discipline. This includes (but is not limited to) economics, engineering, business, policy, finance, geography, computer sciences and other energy or sustainability-related subjects. You must have no more than two years’ post-graduate work experience.
You will be supported by various line managers, the learning & development team and a previous graduate as a mentor. You will have access to a varied training programme, which includes modules on presentation skills and project management, and an introduction to our management development programme.
The programme will run for 18 months and will be offered on a fixed term contract. You will complete three rotations of six months across Ofgem. You may also have the opportunity to work in Brussels with the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) as part of your rotations.
At the end of the programme, you may be offered a permanent position, dependent on your performance and the availability of a suitable role within the organisation.
We offer an attractive package including a competitive starting salary of £28,000 (with stepped increases through the programme), alongside a range of other benefits.

The application process
The first stage of our application process is for you to complete an online application form, this enables us to capture information about your motivation, skills and strengths. In addition, you will also be asked to attach your CV.
On successful review of your online application form, you will be invited to complete a video interview, which is a great way for us to get to know you better! It's not a live interview, instead we have recorded the questions so that you can answer them at a time that is convenient for you (from your smartphone, tablet or laptop).
Candidates who are successful at video interview stage will be invited to complete online testing. This stage helps us ensure our graduates demonstrate proficiency in verbal and numerical skills.
Our final stage of the process is an Assessment Centre which will be held virtually from 15 March. If you’re invited to attend, you will complete a variety of exercises on the day – including an interview and presentation as well as written and group exercises. This is a great opportunity for you to meet us, find out more about our business and also ask questions to our existing Graduates on the programme.
Our recruitment team will be on hand throughout the process to answer any questions you may have. You will also be sent practice tests, links, hints and tips to help you through each of the stages.
