Connections and competition

We encourage competition in areas where this can make a positive difference for customers.

We allow companies to develop and operate small, local gas networks and encourage companies to compete to connect new customers to the networks.

This should mean that customers connecting to the network get fairer prices and better service.

The small, local networks are owned and operated by Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs).  Gas Distribution Networks, IGTs and Utility Infrastructure Providers can all provide connection services.
