As part of the RIIO-2 price control, network companies can apply for additional allowances via the Non-Operational Information Technology Capex Re-opener uncertainty mechanism.
National Grid Electricity Transmission plc has submitted a needs case for a new Electricity Transmission Control Centre under this Re-opener for our consideration. With most re-opener applications, once we have undertaken an assessment of the proposal, we would publish a public consultation on our assessment to gather stakeholder feedback. But in this case, given the sensitive nature of the project, we cannot publicly consult on it at this stage. However, we are publishing this note to explain the processes that we are following to ensure that we maximise consumer value.
