This guidance is for suppliers and eligible low-income and vulnerable households.
The Warm Home Discount is a fuel poverty reduction scheme, reducing the energy costs of low-income and vulnerable households across Great Britain since its inception in 2011.
The scheme primarily provides support through the provision of £150 energy bill rebates, funded through a levy on all domestic gas and electricity customers.

Version 3 should be read by suppliers and households for guidance on SY16 to SY20 (excluding reconciliation).
Version 2 should be read by suppliers and households for guidance on SY15 and before which includes the reconciliation process for SY15.
We have not included reconciliation guidance for Scheme Years 16 to 20 in version 3 of the guidance. This will be published separately. For Scheme Year 15, please refer to Version 2 of the guidance.

We have published version 3 of the Warm Home Discount guidance for England & Wales, following the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s consultation and government response on extending the scheme from 2026 to 2031.
Our updated guidance V3 reflect the amendments to regulations. They also provide additional clarity on the administration of the scheme in light of these changes, in addition to minor corrections and changes.
