Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) funding round 1

We are approving a material change request from network companies regarding the project directions for Crowdflex.

This publication sets out which projects should receive funding as part of the Strategic Innovation Fund.

The Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) is a funding mechanism for the Electricity System Operator, Electricity Transmission, Gas Transmission and Gas Distribution sectors.

Following Ofgem's recent decision to fund round 1 alpha phase projects within our Strategic Innovation Fund, we are now publishing the SIF Project Directions issued to those projects awarded funding.

We are confirming our decision to enable 18 projects to progress into the alpha phase and receive SIF funding.

We have approved five change requests from network companies regarding round one discovery phase projects in the SIF. Additionally, we have corrected a data error in one SIF Project Direction.

Following publication of our SIF Funding Decision on 1 March 2022, we are now directing the distribution of SIF Funding by National Grid Electricity System Operator and National Grid Gas Transmission.
