This document sets out the findings of our review of the Fuel Poor Network Extension Scheme which we launched in August 2014. This document provides an overview of the responses we received to that consultation and the policy issues that emerged for us to consider further. In this document we:

  • explain our final decision on certain aspects of the Scheme
  • consult further on certain areas of the Scheme and invite interested parties to contribute their views
  • set out the next steps.

We will be making our final decision by 30 September 2015 on the outstanding areas, giving stakeholders six months to implement all changes by 1 April 2016.

We believe that the Scheme is an essential tool to help combat fuel poverty. We are carrying out this review to ensure that the Scheme continues to assist low income and vulnerable consumers by providing them with a connection to the gas network, where that is the best solution for the consumer.

This consultation has closed and was not progressed further.
