The RO Guidance for Generators is for generators that receive or would like to receive support under the Renewables Obligation scheme in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It gives an overview of the generating technologies that might be eligible under the Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme and how eligible generators become accredited. It also sets out the information we require from generators to issue Renewables Obligations certificates (ROCs) and explains how and when we issue ROCs.

Our response document explains to stakeholders the changes that have been made to the final version of the guidance since the draft was published for consultation.

On 16 January 2017 this document was updated to include the transition section of Renewables Obligation (RO): Guidance on the transition period and closure of the RO. Information on biomass conversions, dual scheme facilities and RO-CfD phased projects can now be found in appendix 4.

In addition minor updates have been made throughout the document to aid clarity.

On 13 March 2017 this document was updated to include additional information on amending applications, excluded capacity and permitted ways.

On 31 August 2018 this document was updated to include information on the annual ROC cap.

On 11 September 2018 this document was amended to update guidance for hydro generating stations in Scotland.
