We are investigating whether there has been an infringement of Chapter II of the Competition Act 1998 and/or Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, concerning potential abuse of a dominant position by a company providing services to the energy industry.

The opening of this investigation does not imply we have made any findings about whether there has been an infringement of competition law.

The investigation is at the information gathering and assessment of evidence phase.

Update August 2019

We continue to assess the evidence we have collected during the course of our investigation, particularly taking into account recent developments in the market. No findings have been made at this stage that competition law has been infringed. We expect to provide a further update on the progress of the investigation in autumn 2019.

Update February 2019

We have assessed the initial evidence from our information requests, and have decided to carry out further investigation. No findings have been made at this stage as to whether or not there is an infringement of competition law. We intend to update this page with further progress details in summer 2019.

Update December 2017

We have decided to carry out further investigation including further information requests and analysis. No findings have been made at this stage as to whether or not there is an infringement of competition law.
