As part of the Third Package (a set of four pieces of EU legislation governing the EU gas and electricity markets), the EU is developing Framework Guidelines and Network Codes governing the design, operation and planning of the European energy sector.
Along with the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), we recognise that many stakeholders have already engaged with these issues at a European level. We are also increasingly aware of the need to consolidate these efforts and develop a UK position that shows leadership on these network code issues. The DECC/Ofgem EU Electricity Network Codes Stakeholder Group was set up with the aim of drawing together stakeholder views, informing the UK comitology negotiating position and taking a proactive stance on the development of a European target model, thus developing an influencing strategy to help deliver our objectives.
The DECC/Ofgem EU Electricity Network Codes Stakeholder Group merged in March 2015 with the Joint European Standing Group and the European Code Coordination Application Forum, forming a single cross-industry group: the Joint European Stakeholder Group.
