Consumers need to trust that they can share their data safely so that energy companies make full use of the data.

We want consumers to have control over their energy data. This includes the ability to securely share their data with trusted energy companies. 

In return, consumers could get: 

• lower bills
• greener energy
• better service

Data Sharing Infrastructure (DSI)

The DSI will help energy companies safely and efficiently exchange information, such as:

• asset and planning data needed for strategic planning purposes
• asset information needed to register assets to take part in flexibility markets

This makes it easier for them to innovate and work together.

Our Data Best Practice guidance helps energy companies follow the rules around data in their licences.

The guidance explains how to share data from different systems across the energy sector.
