Our social media channels
We primarily use Twitter, LinkedIn and our blog to communicate with and talk to the general public as well as our stakeholders.
We run three Twitter channels:
@Ofgem is intended to speak to consumers about issues directly relevant to them.
@Ofgempress deals with stakeholder and industry news.
@Ofgem_eserve deals with content relevant to our E-serve division, which administers government energy efficiency and social programmes.
We run a YouTube channel which hosts our videos.
We run a blog, principally hosting our opinion pieces, and which enables site visitors to comment.
How we moderate our social media channels
The Ofgem communications team moderate Twitter, LinkedIn and comments on the Ofgem blog from Monday to Friday during office hours.
We will occasionally post tweets to Twitter outside of office hours.
How we connect with other social media users
Being ‘liked’ or retweeted by one of our social media channels does not imply endorsement of any kind.
We may follow you on Twitter - being followed by us doesn’t imply endorsement of any kind.
How we respond across all social media channels
We make no commitment to respond to every single individual comment or tweet on any platform.
We cannot engage on issues of party politics or answer questions which break the general house rules of each platform – for example, the Twitter Rules.
We accept no responsibility for the Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube sites or Disqus commenting function on our blog being unavailable.
On all social media platforms we use, we will delete:
- abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic or inflammatory comments
- nuisance comments considered to be spam
- personal information given such as telephone numbers, address details, etc.
We will respond to customer questions sent to @ofgem from @ofgem as appropriate.
Retweeting from Ofgem’s Twitter accounts does not imply endorsement of any kind.
We use LinkedIn to post opinion and blog pieces. Some of these may be related to consultations Ofgem is undertaking (a consultation related blog):
- Where we post a consultation related blog, we will treat any comments submitted as a consultation response to that consultation.
- If you wish to respond to the consultation in another way, please use the usual routes that the consultation outlines.
- We publish all consultation responses on our website, wherever they come from, unless they’re marked as confidential. You automatically consent to this when you submit a comment on any consultation-related blog.
Commenting on the Ofgem blog
We reactively moderate commenting on the Ofgem blog. For information on how we moderate and the guidelines you should follow when commenting, see our moderation and commenting guidelines.
