In April 2020 Ofgem started measuring the impacts of Covid-19 social distancing on domestic energy consumption, financial wellbeing and the concerns of energy consumers around managing bills.

This report summarises results from two rounds of polling carried out in April and May 2020. The research was carried out with domestic energy bill payers living in Great Britain, carried out by Ipsos-Mori on behalf of Ofgem.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began in March, Ofgem’s response has been guided by our overriding objectives: protecting consumers, especially the vulnerable, ensuring secure energy supplies and maintaining the safety of customers and the workforce. We worked with Government and industry to help struggling prepayment customers stay on supply, especially those in financial distress or self-isolating.
