We are consulting on changes to the standard conditions of the electricity and gas supply licences to remove a number of rules regarding Simpler Tariff Choices that were introduced following the 2010-2013 Retail Market Review. This consultation follows recommendations made by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) resulting from its investigation into the energy market.
We propose to implement the CMA’s recommendations in full and make necessary consequential amendments where required. With the proposed changes we aim to promote competition and innovation between retail energy suppliers by allowing them to offer a wider range of tariffs and facilitate competition between price comparison websites.
