Ofgem has decided to close its investigation into Scottish Power’s compliance with Standard Licence Conditions (“SLC”) 38 of the Gas Supply Licence and SLC 44 of the Electricity Supply Licence, relating to the 2019 smart meter rollout period and resolve the matter by way of Alternative Action. The decision was taken in accordance with our Enforcement Guidelines.

SLCs 38 and 44 require a licensee to set and achieve Annual Milestones for the installation of smart meters.

Whilst, as is usual in cases resolved by Alternative Action, there has been no formal finding of breach, Scottish Power has agreed to make a voluntary payment of £440,000 into the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Fund.
