Default tariff cap derogations for renewable tariffs

This guidance sets out our approach to assessing and monitoring renewable tariffs receiving a derogation from the default tariff cap. It explains the criteria suppliers must meet, including:

• customer choice
• expectations on evidence
• principles for assessing renewable support
• renewable costs and investments

This guidance document supersedes guidance published in 2018. It reflects changes in the market and provides greater clarity on how we interpret and apply the derogation framework.  

Suppliers applying for or maintaining a derogation should use this guidance alongside the associated application forms and reporting templates.
