The Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) is a funding mechanism for the Electricity System Operator, Electricity Transmission, Gas Transmission, Gas Distribution and Electricity Distribution sectors.
The SIF aims to find and fund ambitious, innovative projects with the potential to accelerate the transition to net zero. These projects should help shape the future of the gas and electricity networks and succeed commercially where possible.
On 4 April 2023, we published SIF Project Directions for 53 round two discovery phase projects in the SIF. On 28 April we approved change requests from network companies regarding these projects. The updated SIF Project Directions are published below below.
We are now publishing one further Project Direction Change Request for the PIONEER project, published below.
