Following a sale of the 1300 MW West Burton B CCGT and 49 MW of on-site battery storage from the EDF group to EIG, West Burton B Ltd (WBB), which now owns and operates the plant as a standalone business, formally requested on 15 February 2022 that Ofgem disapply Schedules A & C of Special Condition AA: Liquidity in the Wholesale Electricity Market from the Electricity Generation Licence held by WBB.
This letter sets out the background to WBB’s request and explains our reasons for consenting to it. To give effect to the changes, pursuant to the Special Condition, we have published a Direction to the relevant Electricity Generation Licensee alongside this letter.
