Statutory Consultation on proposed modifications to the Special Conditions and Standard Special Conditions of the Gas Transporter Licence held by National Grid Gas Plc and the Gas Distribution Network Operators

We are consulting on a proposal to modify the Special Conditions and Standard Special Conditions to the Gas Transporter Licence held by National Grid Gas Plc (NGG) in respect of the National Transmission System, and the Gas Distribution Network Operators (GDNs). These conditions relate to the regulation of traditional gas meters and metering services provided by NGG and the GDNs, which will be replaced over time by smart meters.

We are proposing to maintain the current regulatory framework for gas traditional metering whilst the smart meter rollout is ongoing, to facilitate a smooth and effective transition to smart metering.
