We are proposing to give demand, generation and storage connecting greater choice as to how their connections to the electricity transmission system are delivered.

Consultation description

As part of the Connect pillar of demand connections reform this consultation seeks views and input on our proposals to expand the scope of self-build and transfer for transmission level assets. This proposed new scope will mean that demand, generation and storage customers connecting to the transmission system will have the option of self-building sole use assets from the connection point (e.g. their site) to the existing transmission system and transferring those assets to the Transmission Owner.

Who should respond

We would like to hear from regulated parties including network companies and the National Electricity System Operator (NESO), as well as connecting customers and other interested parties.

How to respond

Submit your response using the response template and send it to connections@ofgem.gov.uk by 13 November 2026.
