TI LIRIC LIMITED: notice of grant of an electricity interconnector licence

Notice under Section 6A(5) of the Electricity ACT 1989 of the grant of an electricity interconnector licence 

Pursuant to section 6A(5) of the Electricity Act 1989 (“the Act”), the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”) hereby gives notice that on 29 August 2025 an electricity interconnector licence was granted under section 6(1)(e) of the Act to TI LIRIC LIMITED (company number 12300898) whose registered office is situated at 17th Floor, 88 Wood Street, London, United Kingdom, EC2V 7DA authorising it to participate in the operation of the TI LIRIC Interconnector, an electrictity interconnector between The Hunterston East 400kV substation in Great Britain and The Kilroot 275kV substation in Northern Ireland.  

Note: An electricity interconnector licence authorises a person to operate an electricity interconnector. It is not an authorisation to construct the interconnector. Construction of the interconnector is subject to separate planning processes including the obtaining of any consents or permits required from relevant authorities, including the relevant planning authority.  

Further, it is not an authorisation to operate the interconnector under any specific regime (i.e. merchant-exempt route or the cap and floor regime).
