Outcome of changes to Smart Energy Code (SEC) MP308 Out of Region Comms Hubs.
Details of outcome
We have decided to approve SECMP308 to prevent loss of smart functionality for approximately 46,000 out-of-region communication hubs.

Code modification description
The proposal was raised the Data Communications Company on 17 November 2025 and was granted urgency by Ofgem on 19 November 2025.
The modification will allow DCC to enter into an agreement with its service provider to ensure any communications hubs installations out of the correct region to function after 1 January 2026. This will also allow DCC to pass costs on the suppliers who have their out-of-region communications hubs in their portfolio.
