A decision was published for this consultation on 25 August 2023.
The Data Communications Company (DCC) is responsible for establishing and operating a secure national communications network for smart metering in Great Britain. It currently operates under the Smart Meter Communication Licence, awarded by the government in 2013 for an initial period of 12 years. We are reviewing the regulatory arrangements to be put in place for DCC following the expiry of the current licence in 2025.
This consultation closes the first, scoping, phase of the review. We present our analysis and findings to date and seek stakeholder views on a range of areas to inform our next steps.
Alongside this document we publish an invitation to our virtual stakeholder meeting, which will be held on 26 October 2022 to provide interested parties the opportunity to explore the proposals and questions presented in the consultation with Ofgem. We also publish a set of slides summarising the content of this consultation.
