Ofgem launches investigation into E’s marketing and sales activities

Press release

Publication date

An investigation into marketing, sales and switching practices by E (Gas and Electricity) Limited (“E”) has today been launched by Ofgem.

The investigation will examine whether E breached licence conditions which require suppliers to provide information which is complete and accurate and is easily understood by customers when undertaking marketing and sales activities.

This follows concerns about the supplier’s approach to recruiting new customers.

Notes to editors

  1. For more information on potential licence conditions breached see our investigation into E (Gas and Electricity) Limited’s compliance under the gas and electricity supply licences (Standard Licence Condition 25).
  2. The opening of this investigation does not imply that we have made any findings about non-compliance.
  3. E (Gas and Electricity) Limited (“E”) is a medium-sized supplier that supplies electricity and gas to customers, predominately customers on pre-payment meters.
