Electricity transmission companies are financially incentivised, under Special Condition 3C of their licence, to operate a reliable network. A reward or penalty is calculated each year based on the total volume of energy not supplied during loss of supply events on their networks.
Part B of Special Condition 3C of their licence requires that the companies have a Reliability Incentive Methodology Statement approved by the Authority that sets out how the licensee will calculate the volume of energy not supplied during a loss of supply event. This Notice approves such a methodology which has been submitted jointly to the Authority by all three onshore electricity transmission companies
