This document summarises the results of the first RIIO-GD1 Gas Discretionary Reward Scheme 2013-15. Through this scheme, we aim to reward the performance of Gas Distribution Network (GDN) companies which best serve the interest of customers through initiatives over and above what GDNs have been funded for within RIIO-GD1.
The scheme assesses companies on their initiatives across three categories that we specified: environment, social and carbon monoxide safety. This was the first assessment for RIIO-GD1 and a total of £4 million was available to reward the GDNs.
We decided to award £3.05million of the available £4million for this assessment. Our decision was based on the recommendation made by our independent panel of experts that assessed each of the submissions. We will undertake two more such assessments awarding up to £4 million during this price control (by 2021).
