Comply with heat networks consumer protection regulations
The Comply with heat networks consumer protection regulations digital service is for:
- heat network operators
- heat network suppliers
You can use this service to:
- register heat networks
- add or update your organisation’s details
- manage users
Existing heat networks must be registered by 26 January 2027.
In future, you will also use this service to submit regular data about your organisation and heat network.
About the digital service
The digital service is open for registration. By starting to register now, you can:
- comply with regulations early
- give us vital feedback that we’ll use to improve the service you’ll interact with frequently
The service is currently in private beta, which means we are actively looking for feedback from users on how to improve the service. It’s fully functional and all registration data is stored securely.
There will be opportunities to provide feedback as you use the service and when you have finished registering a heat network.
How to sign up for the digital service
Choose a regulatory contact
Each heat network operator or supplier should nominate one ‘regulatory contact’. This is typically the organisation’s most senior member of staff with responsibility for heat networks. They will be Ofgem’s first point of contact if we need to speak to someone.
You can change the regulatory contact in future if needed. The regulatory contact can add additional users once they have set up their account.
Request access
Only the regulatory contact can request to join private beta for the heat networks digital service (opens in new window or tab).
They will need to provide the following information:
- their own contact details
- organisation name
- organisation type
- number of heat networks the organisation has
We’ll email them within 10 working days to confirm they can start using the digital service. They will then need to:
- Sign in to or create their GOV.UK One Login account (using the same email address that was used to sign up for private beta).
- Complete the organisation account creation process.
Once they’ve created their account, they can start registering their heat networks. They can also give additional members of the organisation and third parties access to the service, to support with registering heat networks.
Suppliers must also create an account, but will only be able to register their heat networks supply activity once an operator or third party has invited them.
Sign in to your account
You can sign in if you’ve received email confirmation that you can access the digital service. You must use the email address that you used to sign up for private beta.
