Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF)
A £450 million fund to support the innovation needed to transform gas and electricity networks for a low-carbon future.
It is open to:
- National Energy System Operator (NESO)
- gas and electricity transmission companies working in innovation partnerships
- distribution companies working in partnership with an energy licensee on an innovation project
Network Innovation Allowance (NIA)
The Network Innovation Allowance is part of the RIIO price control budget. Each network licensee has an amount they can spend on innovation projects of their choice.
Projects should primarily benefit customers. They should help customers in vulnerable situations or assist the net zero transition.
