As part of the RIIO-T1 price control, Ofgem introduced a new policy for electricity transmission owners (TOs) to reduce the visual impact of pre-existing infrastructure in nationally designated areas. The expenditure cap for all mitigation projects that come forward under the scheme during the RIIO-T1 price control is £500 million (2009/10 prices) in total.

This letter explains our determination on National Grid Electricity Transmission’s proposals for reducing the visual amenity impact in the Peak District National Park under RIIO-T1 provisions for the mitigation of pre-existing infrastructure.

Alongside this letter, we’re publishing a notice under Part C of Special Condition 6G of the Electricity Transmission Licence on modifications to National Grid Electricity Transmission’s electricity transmission licence and allowed revenue to implement our decision. Details of the changes are set out in the notice.
