We are seeking views on reselling gas and electricity, and whether the Maximum Resale Price protects consumers, enables investment, and provides fair pricing.
Call for input description
This call for input is to begin discussions with stakeholders on our rules regarding reselling gas and electricity and the Maximum Resale Price (MRP) direction.
The MRP protects consumers by making sure that gas and electricity cannot be resold for more than what the reseller originally paid, when it's used in people's homes.
This call for input seeks insights and evidence on:
- whether the MRP delivers fair pricing
- if the MRP adequately protects consumers
- if the MRP enables investment into low-carbon infrastructure and consumer flexibility
- specific areas including electric vehicles, marine craft, non-domestic customers, energy storage, enforcement mechanisms and billing transparency
We are exploring these issues and are keen to hear from all stakeholders on the matters concerned and the questions raised in the call for input.
Who should respond
We are particularly keen to hear from:
- people who work in innovation
- consumers of resold energy
- landlords
- property managers
- other resellers to end users
We encourage anyone responding to submit any relevant evidence to support your views and help inform our decision-making process.
