Code modification description
The proposal was raised by Scottish Power Electricity North-West in June 2025 following concerns about the loss of smart metering communications when Data Communications Company (DCC) service disruptions coincide with adverse weather.
MP293 will introduce an Enhanced Availability service for the current Data Service Provider. The service will allow a limited set of smart metering messages to remain available when the core Data Service Provider is unavailable during certain service disruptions. This will help electricity Network Parties retain selected supply-status and outage-restoration information and will maintain specified remote top-up functionality for supported SMETS1 prepayment consumers.
