On 8 March 2024, Ofgem opened an investigation into whether certain practices by the SGN Group infringed the Chapter II prohibition of the Competition Act 1998. Ofgem was concerned the SGN Group had engaged in conduct that may have abused its dominant position by refusing to adopt above 7 barg connections (these are higher pressure connections used at non-domestic premises) provided by third parties in the Scotia Gas Network Gas Distribution Network Area.
On 10 April 2025, the SGN Group offered to provide binding commitments to Ofgem to address its competition concerns (the ‘Proposed Commitments’). The Proposed Commitments have been considered by Ofgem, and we are seeking written responses by 24 September 2025, before making a final decision on whether to accept the Proposed Commitments.
