Request an exemption

If you have occupied your property registered on the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (DRHI) for less than 183 days in the last 12 months you will be required to install eligible metering. If you believe this inoccupancy was out with your control (due to ill health or your property being uninhabitable) you can request an exemption.

Process for requesting an exemption

Complete our exemption form below and send it to us within 28 days of receiving our email informing you that you are now required to be metered.

Contact details are on the form. In it you must specify:

•    the grounds on which you’re making the exemption appeal

•    confirmation from a registered person(s) of the above.

Please note, we can only accept review requests from the authorised user’s email account.

Therefore, if your review request concerns an existing DRHI accreditation, please contact us from the email address registered on the account in question.

We may contact you with additional questions or clarifications following your request.

Requests for exemption do not apply retrospectively and are only available for notifications or annual declarations submitted after the 1 April 2022.

Any exemption requests that are rejected will require to install an eligible metering arrangement to remain on the scheme.
