Decision

Ofgem has today issued a statutory consultation on a modification to the standard conditions of the Gas Transporters (GT) licence. This will have the effect of introducing a new obligation upon the Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) to offer gas shippers certain supply point administration (SPA) services through a common Agency.

These services are being introduced as part of Project Nexus and will bring the SPA services of IGTs into line with those of the larger GTs. This will deliver significant cost savings for the gas shippers who utilise those services, which will subsequently be passed through to consumers. It will also ensure that those consumers who are connected to IGT networks will benefit from the same range and standard of service, for instance when switching gas supplier, as those connected to traditional networks.
