This consultation document sets out our views and proposals on the Final Needs Case for the Shetland transmission link project and delivery model.

We have also published four additional documents relating to our assessment of the Shetland Final Needs Case:

  • A report on the Shetland CBA produced by the ESO.
  • A report on Mott Macdonald’s technical review on the impact of upgrading the Kergord converter station from 600MW to 800MW
  • A report from ABB outlining the impact and potential changes to the Shetland transmission project of changing from 600MW to 800MW
  • A report from ABB outlining the potential impact of a higher power rating.

The reports have been redacted to remove any commercially sensitive information.

Please note, on 11 June 2020, we published two additional documents relating to our assessment of the Shetland Final Needs Case:

  • A report on the Levelised Cost of Energy produced by the ESO.
  • A report on the Shetland CBA Tipping Point Analysis produced by the ESO.

The reports have been redacted to remove any commercially sensitive information. Stakeholders who have already submitted responses may wish to reconsider their submissions in light the further information published.
