Investigation into whether Economy Energy, E (Gas and Electricity) and Dyball Associates have infringed Chapter I of the Competition Act 1998 with respect to a suspected anti-competitive agreement

Opened:
Sep 2016

We are investigating whether there has been an infringement of Chapter I of the Competition Act 1998. The investigation concerns a suspected anti-competitive agreement between Economy Energy, E (Gas and Electricity) and Dyball Associates.

The case was opened in September 2016 and the Authority took decisions to continue with the case in December 2016 and April 2017.

On 29 May 2018 the Authority issued a statement of objections to the three parties to the investigation.

The statement of objections is a provisional decision and no conclusion should be drawn at this stage that there has been an infringement of competition law. The recipients of the statement of objections will now have an opportunity to respond to the allegations. The Authority will consider any representations it receives before any decision is taken as to whether competition law has in fact been infringed.

On 5 October 2018 Ofgem published a Procedural Officer decision concerning the investigation.
