Licences

If your company or organisation wants to enter the gas or electricity markets you will need to check whether the activity you are proposing is a licensable activity. If it is, you may still fall within an exemption or exception.

You may find further information about this on our licence exemptions page. If your proposed activity is licensable and not subject to any exemptions you will need to apply for a licence.

Before you begin the application process, however, we strongly recommend you seek independent legal advice on how best to comply with industry rules and regulations.

We also recommend that you contact the relevant industry code administrators to discuss any code requirements prior to commencing the licence application process.
