We are working with the government to make improvements to how energy codes are run.
Our aim is to have energy codes that are ready for changes in the energy sector. These include making changes quickly and efficiently so that they benefit consumers and support the move to net zero.
Changes to the way codes are run
Under the Energy Act 2023 we will set out a vision each year for how codes should change. We will do this through our strategic direction statement.
We will appoint licensed code managers, who will run the codes and ensure they develop in line with our vision.
Code improvements
We are combining 11 codes into a smaller number to reduce complexity.
Our aim is to make it easier for all companies in energy markets to understand rules that apply to them, so they can innovate to benefit consumers.
