Dear Colleague,

On 27 August 2013, we published the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority’s (‘the Authority’) decision to proceed with licence modifications to give effect to the Retail Market Review proposals on simpler tariff choices and clearer information.

We have since identified a number of errors in the associated modification directions we issued. Our approach to these errors is set out below. We are also now issuing directions to specify the consumption values to be used for one of the new defined terms in the gas and electricity supply licences.

Corrections and housekeeping amendments

Attached is a correction slip which clarifies the dates for insertion of paragraph 23.2A and schedules 3 and 4 of SLC 23 into the gas and electricity supply licences. These were erroneously omitted from the modification directions.

We are also aware of minor typographical errors in the licence modifications. We intend to correct these errors before the end of the year.

Directions to specify Ofgem Consumption Details

In addition, the Authority is today issuing directions to specify the consumption values which will be the basis for the definition of "Ofgem Consumption Details" in SLC 1 of the gas and electricity supply licences. The directions can be found in the attachments to this letter.

These consumption values reflect the updated medium typical domestic consumption values published recently by Ofgem and, among other things, are to be used when calculating Tariff Comparison Rates (‘TCRs’) and producing the new Tariff Information Label.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to contact us at rmr@ofgem.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely,
