NOTICE UNDER SECTION 6A(5) OF THE ELECTRICITY ACT 1989 OF THE GRANT OF AN ELECTRICITY INTERCONNECTOR LICENCE
Pursuant to section 6A(5) of the Electricity Act 1989 (“the Act”), the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”) hereby gives notice that on 3 February 2023 an electricity interconnector licence was granted under section 6(1)(e) of the Act to Cronos Energy Ltd (company number 10768224) whose registered office is situated at Amp Technology Centre, Advanced Manufacturing Park, Brunel Way, Rotherham, S60 5WG, United Kingdom, authorising it to participate in the operation of the Cronos Interconnector, an electricity interconnector between Kemsley 400kV Substation, in Kent in Great Britain and Zeebrugge in Belgium.
Note: An electricity interconnector licence authorises a person to operate an electricity interconnector. It is not an authorisation to construct the interconnector. Construction of the interconnector is subject to separate planning processes including the obtaining of any consents or permits required from relevant authorities, including the relevant planning authority.
Further, it is not an authorisation to operate the interconnector under any specific regime (i.e. merchant-exempt route or the cap and floor regime).
A copy of this licence is available from the Ofgem Library, 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU or by email at foi@ofgem.gov.uk.
