In this document, we have set out an update of our views on National Grid’s North West Coast Connections project. If completed, this would connect a proposed new nuclear power station in Cumbria to the main transmission network in Great Britain. This update follows our consultation on the project in December 2016 and outlines our revised view in light of National Grid's announcement that it is pausing work on the project.
This update is aimed at parties interested in our views on the first project we have assessed under both the Strategic Wider Works (SWW) and Competitively Appointed Transmission Owner (CATO) frameworks, including potential bidders, incumbent network companies, interested consumer groups and other relevant stakeholders.
