On 7 July 2015, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published its Summary of Provisional Findings Report, outlining its analysis of which features of the energy market could give rise to Adverse Effects on Competition (AECs). The CMA also published its Notice of Possible Remedies, which includes a long list of potential measures to address the AECs.

We welcome the Provisional Findings Report and Notice of Possible Remedies. The AECs the CMA has identified largely reflect our own concerns about the problems in the market. We are committed to provide our full support in the development of a package of remedies to benefit consumers.

In this letter we set out our views on the Provisional Findings and our initial thinking on some of the remedies proposed by the CMA.
