Ofgem response to CMA issues statement

On 24 July 2014 the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published its issues statement setting out the scope of their investigation into the energy market and initial theories on what might be adversely affecting competition.
The CMA’s statement was broadly aligned with Ofgem’s initial submission, in which we set out the issues we thought should be the focus of the investigation.
In this letter we respond to the CMA’s issues statement providing more detail about Ofgem’s monitoring and policy work in wholesale electricity markets which could be important to the CMA’s investigation.
