Britain’s energy system is undergoing a deep and wide-ranging transformation as we transition towards a low-carbon economy. The pace of this transformation – and the potential for genuinely different and disruptive ways to do things – is greater than ever before. We’re keen that the regulatory framework encourages new business models and sufficiently flexible approaches that support innovation reliably, safely and at good value to consumers.

Join our event live stream from 2.30pm until 5pm today when our chief executive, Dermot Nolan, and a guest panel from Innovate UK and the Financial Conduct Authority will explore the types of innovation coming to the energy market, the challenges innovators are facing and the implications for regulation in detail.

We’ll also discuss Ofgem's Innovation Plan, to be published this March, explaining how our work and ongoing engagement with stakeholders will support, promote and enable innovation to deliver better consumer outcomes, including how new work on horizon scanning will help us understand future priorities for where regulatory change or space for innovation is needed.
