This report documents the motivation, design, analysis and results of a the randomised control trial that was run with around 600,000 default energy tariff customers across five energy suppliers in summer 2018.

The trial showed that a communication, sent from the customer’s own supplier, alerting customers to personalised cheaper market tariffs can increase switching rates amongst the average default tariff customer.
