On 24 September 2019, National Grid IFA2 Limited (NGIFA2) submitted the Access Rules and the Charging Methodology for the IFA2 interconnector to the Authority for approval. The Access Rules and Charging Methodology are applicable as long as the UK remains within the Internal Energy Market.

The Access rules set out the terms and conditions for access to, and including use of, the interconnector. The Charging Methodology sets out the methodologies for the calculation of charges imposed for access to and use of the licensee’s interconnector.

We have decided to approve the Access Rules and the Charging Methodology proposed by NGIFA2 on the basis that they achieve the relevant Access Rules objectives and Charging Methodology objectives. The Access Rules and the Charging Methodology will enter into force 28 calendar days after they are published by NGIFA2.

This letter sets out our decision to approve the Access Rules and Charging Methodology for the IFA2 interconnector, including an outline of the necessary next steps. This letter also contains Directions approving the Access Rules and the Charging Methodology..
